complicit forever, 2018, perpetual web canvas.
'complicit' was a visitor participation art event which ran during the 2018 HOFS Exhibition of Works and Open Studios weekend.

27 visitors participated in the event, each producing a jointly authored work with me. This piece takes all 27 of the 'complicit' works and a monochrome version of each and combines them in real time. To generate a combined image, it selects a random number of the works and merges them in a random sequence. It randomly chooses whether to include the full colour or the monochrome image. Then, a few seconds later, it does it all again - repeatedly, ad infinitum.
The number of possible permutations for 27 items is in excess of 10 thousand, trillion, trillion.
